NGC 4094

For scopes 8" or larger

NGC 4094 (MCG -2-31-16, PGC 38346) is a 12.7-magnitude spiral galaxy of intermediate orientation. This galaxy subtends 4.1' x 1.5' and lies about 60 million light years distant.

I observed this galaxy with my 18-inch Dob in March 2000:

The galaxy was visible as a faint smudge at 82x. It had a long, thin appearance. Best observed at 165x, I could make out a slight bulge in the middle and hints of irregular structure.

The view in an 8-inch f/8 at 65x. North is down and east is to the right.
